Doggie Treat Recipes (1)

Liver Squares

1 pound beef liver
4 eggs
1 C cornmeal
garlic powder - about 1/2 tsp.

Preheat oven to 350.
Mix all the above ingredients in a food processor or blender until smooth.
Pour onto greased 8 inch square pan.
Bake for 30 minutes.
Let cool - then cut into squares!

Your dogs will love 'em!!

Try these treats for you pooches!

Garden Veggie Bagel Schmagel

Ingredients:
1/2 Cup Wheat Flour
2 1/2 Cups White Flour
1 Teaspoon Vegetable Oil
1 Egg
1/4 Teaspoon Baking Powder
1/4 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 Cup Chopped Carrots
1/2 Cup Chopped Spinach
1 Tablespoon Minced Garlic
3/4 Cup Water
Garnishes: sesame seeds, minced dried garlic or poppy seeds

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combined dry ingredients and then wet. Mix, then knead by hand. Form into ping pong ball size pieces. Flatten, then poke hole in center. Form into bagel shapes. Bake for approximately 45-50 minutes.

Cool. To garnish, spray finished bagels with water and sprinkle with sesame seeds, minced dried garlic or poppy seeds. Serve!

Skitty Biskitz

Serving Size : 25
Ingredients
1 cup uncooked oatmeal
1/3 cup margarine
1 teaspoon bouillon granules
1 1/2 cups hot water
3/4 cup cornmeal
1 egg -- beaten
3 cups whole wheat flour
garlic powder, to taste
optional 3/4 cup powdered milk

In large bowl, pour hot water over the oatmeal, margarine, and boullion, let stand for 5 minutes. Stir in powdered milk, cornmeal and egg. Add flour 1/2 cup at a time, stirring well after each addition. Knead 3-4 minutes adding more flour if necessary to make a very stiff dough. Pat or roll dough to 1/2" thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Place on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 325 for 50 minutes. Allow to cool and dry out til hard before storing.

Veggie Biscuits
Makes About 2 Dozen

Ingredients:
1 Cup Regular flour
1 Cup Wheat flour
1/2 Cup powdered dry milk
1/2 Cup wheat germ
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
6 Tablespoons Margarine
1 egg
1 tsp. Brown sugar
3/4 to 1 Cup mashed or pureed cooked veggies (carrots or other vegetable)

Combine flours, wheat germ, powdered milk, and salt in large bowl. Cut in margarine until it resembles corn meal. Beat sugar and egg with whipping fork well. Add mashed vegetables to the egg mixture until a stiff dough is formed. Mix with hands until well mixed. Knead and roll out in a thick sheet. Cut with dog bone cookie cutter or other cookie cutter shapes. Bake at 325 degrees until lightly browned.

Cheesy Bone Cookies

Ingredients:
2 Cups Unsifted all-purpose flour
1 1/4 Cups Shredded cheddar cheese
1 Clove Garlic-finely chopped
1/2 Cup Vegetable oil
4 Tablespoons Water

Combine flour, cheese, garlic & oil. Knead well, adding water as needed to form stiff dough. Roll out on floured surface to 1/2" thick, cut into bone shapes. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 or 15 minutes until bottom of cookies are lightly browned. Cool completely on wire rack.
